May 8th

Great day again here in RMNP. Went and climbed some rocks to start our day, then headed through the other entrance to the park. Took a nice hike and found a herd of elk right off the trail, we even got to hear them bugling to each other. While we ate lunch some storms rolled in that turned into snow and sleet while we drove to higher elevations. 

Looking forward to our last day and a few hikes around some lakes.

May 7th

Another great day in the books!!! We started out in the visitor center and quickly started driving up up and up!!! Made it to over 2-miles up (we sure were feeling it too)!! Grilled out in a picnic area for lunch and did some short trails with the kiddos. We also strapped the GoPro to Rays chest and sent him around (lots of close ups of boulders). Can't wait to see what adventure tomorrow brings.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rocky Mountain National Park

Then at 8:13pm: On the drive into Estes Park today, some amazing views of the mountains. Also - we discovered the hard way that I-470 in Denver is a toll road - $33 for the camper was NOT worth the 10 minutes google maps said we saved. More photos to come tomorrow when we actually make it into the park!!

 

We couldn't contain ourselves from heading to the park after dinner. Nearly empty all around except for people watching the wildlife. Official count for the night.

4 Mountain Goats (one big Ram with full horns)

Too many Elk to count.

We are all bushed and looking forward to an entire day in the park tomorrow!!!!

Happy Anniversary!

May 5th: So with all the driving and other adventuring of this past week, Amanda and I both forgot this morning that it was our 11th anniversary!! (We knew it was today, just got distracted). Nothing great scheduled, just a dinner of beef stew in a campground in western Kansas, and the promise of more driving tomorrow!! I love you Amanda Myler with all of my heart, and am so grateful to be on this journey with you!!!
